Try These Water Activities Around the Gulf Coast | Crye-Leike

Want to spend some time on the water? You've come to the right place. From Destin, FL, to Gulf Shores, AL, the Gulf Coast is an incredible place to be if you're into watersports.

With agreeable weather, miles of public beaches, and numerous local businesses catering to adventure-seekers, there are virtually endless ways to enjoy the warm Gulf waters. Let our real estate agents in Destin, FL, and Gulf Shores, AL, be your guides to the best water activities in the area.

  • Wet-N-Wild Watersports - 119 Calhoun Ave., Destin, FL 32541
You'll find no shortage of places in the Destin area ready and willing to rent you a jet ski, pontoon boat, or any other craft, but Wet-N-Wild Watersports is consistently one of the best-rated. Located on the shore of the North Channel just minutes from many Destin homes for sale, Wet-N-Wild Watersports provides a wide range of boat and equipment rentals at affordable rates. They also offer parasailing adventures and guided dolphin tours.

  • Okaloosa Island Pier - Okaloosa Island, FL 32548
Just 10 minutes west of Destin, the Okaloosa Island Pier is one of the best fishing piers on the Gulf Coast. The pier extends 1,262 feet into the Gulf of Mexico, and anglers commonly catch redfish, cobia, mackerel, sheepshead, bluefish, tarpon, and many other fish species. You'll want to get there early in the morning because the pier often fills up quickly with eager anglers! The onsite tackle shop sells bait and tackle as well as snacks and drinks, and the beaches on either side of the pier are open for swimming.

  • Pure Aloha Adventures - 22922 Alabama's Coastal Connection, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
There are a lot of perfect spots in the Gulf Shores area to paddle a stand-up paddle board (SUP) or kayak, from the Little Lagoon and Lake Shelby to the Gulf of Mexico itself. One of the best places to rent your gear is Pure Aloha Adventures, a woman-owned outfitter located a stone's throw from these Gulf Shores homes for sale. Pure Aloha offers guided paddling tours, SUP lessons, and kayak and paddle board rentals.

  • Crab Island - Crab Island, Destin, FL 32540
Crab Island has been gaining a lot of publicity in recent years, making it one of Destin's most famous attractions. A popular place to swim, paddle, or anchor one's boat just north of the Destin Bridge, Crab Island is technically not an island—though it used to be—but rather a huge submerged sandbar with depths ranging from 1 to 4 feet. With its shallow, crystal-blue waters over a bed of white sand, it's a beautiful spot popular among locals and visitors alike. Several floating bars serve refreshments, and the waters are ideal for swimming, wading, and snorkeling.

  • Back Bay Blueway - 13900 AL-180, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
A network of paddling trails that explore the bays, backwaters, and lagoons around Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, the Back Bay Blueway is a great opportunity to see a different side of the Gulf Coast. Designed with kayakers in mind, the Back Bay Blueway includes 21 launch sites with four distinct paddling trails. The Little Lagoon Trail is a great starting point. You can put in at the Jeff Friend Kayak Launch and explore the 10-mile shoreline of the Little Lagoon, a brackish inland lake separated from the Gulf of Mexico by a narrow strip of beach.
