Chattanooga, Tenn. - Crye-Leike, the largest real estate company in Tennessee and the Mid-South, is accepting open agent enrollment for its spring session of Crye-Leike College, a real estate training school established to help licensed sales associates at all professional levels achieve industry expertise.

The spring session at Crye-Leike College is scheduled for April 15 - May 15, 2002, offering a 10-day education and training program. New or experienced real estate agents are welcome. Sessions are held at Crye-Leike's East Brainerd branch office, located at 1510 Gunbarrel Road in Crye-Leike Plaza.

"Crye-Leike College is the most comprehensive training program in residential real estate," said Jack Webb, training director of Crye-Leike College in Chattanooga. "Individuals seeking a new career in real estate or experienced agents who are looking to transfer their licenses are eligible for enrollment, but must become affiliated with any one of Crye-Leike's 58 branch and franchise offices that are located within a five-state Mid-South region." Crye-Leike College is free to all Crye-Leike agents.

To register for the spring session of Crye-Leike College in Chattanooga, call (423) 892-1515.

REAL ESTATE COMMISSION RULES FOR IMMEDIATE EDUCATION.    The Tennessee Real Estate Commission recently made a new ruling requirement, soon to be imposed, that will require all new real estate agents to have a minimum of 10 hours of training within the first 90 days of license issuance.

"Crye-Leike always has been training its sales associates from the moment they join our team, whether they are a new or experienced agent," said Webb. "We are ahead of the curve."

Each year, over 400 new sales associates affiliating with Crye-Leike receive over 50 hours of instructional education and training on the fundamentals of marketing and selling real estate.

"At Crye-Leike, we believe the learning process never ends," said Webb. "Our Crye-Leike College training gives the agents a 'jump start' in their real estate career."

In addition to its 10-day education and training program, Crye-Leike College also helps sales associates enhance their professionalism through certification programs and continuing education. Crye-Leike College offers workshops on such topics as e-certification and specialized seminars such as the Flight to Excellence for experienced agents. Some of the courses lead to an exclusive Crye-Leike designation such as the Certified Premier Properties Specialist (CPPS).

Additionally, Crye-Leike College brings in nationally-recognized real estate sales speakers and trainers each year to keep its associates on the cutting edge of the latest trends and developments in the real estate industry. Past national speakers have included such well-knowns as Dave Beson, Rick Duluca, David Knox and Bill Barrett.

PROFILE OF REAL ESTATE PROFESSION.    The National Association of Realtors (NAR) recently revealed their 2001 research findings in their report entitled, "The 2001 National Association of Realtors Member Profile: Demographic, Economic and Professional Characteristics of Realtors."

"There are notable distinctions when profiling the real estate profession as a career choice," notes Harold Crye, chief executive officer of Crye-Leike. "Real estate has the reputation of being the perfect career choice for someone seeking a dramatic career shift after spending years in a given field or industry."

NAR describes today's typical Realtor to be a 52-year-old female sales associate, married, living in a household with two to four people. Nearly nine out of 10 Realtors have completed at least some college courses, with 45 percent having completed a bachelor's degree.

Regarding the prior full-time careers of Realtors, NAR found seven percent of Realtors report that real estate was their first career. Management and sales are two widely cited previous full-time careers for Realtors, with little difference among brokers or sales agents. Male Realtors reported working in management and sales predominately. Female real estate professionals reported homemaker, teaching and administration as other prior full-time careers.

Crye-Leike (www.crye-leike.com), a full service real estate company for 25 years, is the nation's 13th largest real estate company and the largest serving Tennessee and the Mid-South.
