Memphis, Tenn. -  There wasn't a "for sale" sign on the Winchester office building in downtown Memphis, but company officials at Crye-Leike, the largest real estate company in Tennessee and the Mid-South, knew that the building and its location was the one they had been searching for over the past several months to establish a downtown commercial office presence in Memphis.

Four Crye-Leike company officials made an offer to purchase the Winchester office building at 8 South Third Street and closed the deal in April 2003. Parkway Properties represented the owner, Winchester River-1, LP. This six-story office building was purchased for $1.3 million by a limited liability partnership under the name of Scimitar, LLC.

The Crye-Leike LLC partnership consists of Dick Leike, co-founder and president, and Chet Whitsitt, vice president, both of Crye-Leike; and Tony Fletcher, preside...

Memphis, Tenn. - This year's Employee Appreciation Luncheons at Crye-Leike, Realtors will have more of a heartfelt meaning when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited. It will be preceded by a roll call of those 59 Crye-Leike employees and sales associates who have members of their family serving in the military at a time when President Bush declared an end to "major combat operations in Iraq."

"With our company's size and close proximity to a major U.S. Navy and Marine Corps installation in Millington, Tenn. and a U.S. Army Forces Command installation in Fort Campbell, KY, it is not surprising to find a number of our employees and sales associates having family members serving in the military," says Joyce Friedman, public relations director who notes that Crye-Leike has 600 employees and 2,367 sales associates company-wide.

"Our employee luncheons couldn't have been planned at a better time with the recent declaration from President Bush," said Friedman. "There...
